Warning: never watch The Room with someone who takes movies seriously
I hit 50 bad movies logged in my notebook last week. Number 47 was The Room with my buddy who studied film in college. Big mistake. He spent the whole time explaining why every scene was technically wrong instead of just enjoying how insane it is. Has anyone else ruined a bad movie night by bringing in the wrong person?

That's actually the part I kinda disagree with... I've got a film theory buddy too and he makes bad movies way better for me. He points out the weird editing cuts and the awkward framing and suddenly I'm laughing at stuff I never noticed before. The football scene is still funny on its own but knowing why it's so weird adds another layer of enjoyment. It's like getting a second movie for free the behind the scenes commentary version. Different strokes for different folks I guess but I'd rather watch The Room with someone who can explain the chaos than someone who just stares at it.

Read somewhere that Tommy Wiseau actually wanted to shoot The Room in both 35mm and digital at the same time. Took four cameras to get all his weird angles. That film school buddy you brought probably would've had an aneurysm over that. Bad movie nights need people who just laugh at the football tossing scene instead of analyzing the lighting.
