Why does nobody talk about how awful the acting is in The Room but somehow it works?

I finally watched The Room last weekend at a buddy's place in Austin and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The acting is so bad it's almost like they're reading lines off cue cards behind the camera. Every scene feels like Tommy Wiseau just decided to wing it with zero direction. I swear there's a part where two actors are having a conversation and one clearly forgets their line for a solid 5 seconds. Has anyone else sat through this and just laughed the whole time because the badness is actually pure entertainment?

I read a breakdown once that claimed The Room works because Tommy Wiseau made every single wrong choice with total CONFIDENCE, and there's something magnetic about that level of commitment to a mess. The article compared it to watching someone crash a car in slow motion but somehow walk away laughing, and that's exactly what it feels like. You can't fake that kind of accidental brilliance, it's just pure chaos captured on film.

Ngl, you're totally missing the point. The Room isn't supposed to be good acting, it's supposed to be a bizarre art piece where Tommy Wiseau's total lack of talent somehow circles back to genius. Every awkward pause and forgotten line adds to this weird charm that's impossible to recreate on purpose. People who call it "bad acting" don't get that it's operating on a whole different level where rules don't apply.
