Dropped $120 on a fancy silicone baking mat set and now my cookies spread like pancakes

I figured I was upgrading from parchment paper, thought it would be non-stick magic. First batch of chocolate chip cookies came out flat as frisbees. Tried chilling the dough, still spread everywhere. Pretty sure the mat is too slick or something. Anyone else have this problem or did I just buy a dud?

$120 on a silicone mat seems a bit extreme for cookies.

Oh I gotta jump in here cause "seems a bit extreme for cookies" is kind of missing the point. Those mats aren't just for cookies you know, people use them for all sorts of baking like bread and roasting veggies too. But yeah the flat cookie thing is real and it's probably not the mat itself being a dud. Most silicone mats are made to be super non-stick which actually lets the butter in the dough melt way too fast before the cookie sets up. You gotta bump your oven temp up by like 25 degrees or add a little more flour to the recipe to give the cookies something to hold onto. Chilling helps but it's not a magic fix cause the heat from the mat still hits that butter quicker than parchment would.
