Hit 500 loaves of sourdough yesterday and realized my starter is older than most of my neighbor's kids.
I started keeping my Levain alive back in 2017 just for fun, but after counting up the loaves I've baked with it over the years the number really surprised me, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has tracked how many bakes they've gotten out of one starter.

You're kind of bragging about a starter that's just a few years old. That's nothing. People have had starters going for decades, passed down through families. Counting every single loaf is a bit much honestly. It's just flour and water, not a trophy. Enjoy the bread, don't turn it into a competition.

Can't say I'm counting loaves but I get where you're coming from. @lane.angela what gets me is that a healthy starter is legit work to maintain, so hitting that many bakes means your routine is solid. Keep it fed and it'll outlast all those kids easy.
