My $2 trick from a lady at the farmers market fixed my dry cake problem

I kept getting dry cakes no matter what I did with my oven temps. Then this older baker at the Eugene farmers market told me to soak my cake layers in simple syrup before frosting. I tried it on my last batch of chocolate cake and it was like night and day. Has anyone else used this trick on a really dense cake like carrot or banana?

That older baker at the Eugene farmers market" sounds like she knows her stuff. I wonder if the syrup trick works better on banana bread than carrot cake since banana is already so moist.

Oh man absolutely! I tried that syrup trick on banana bread last week and it was a game changer, made it even more tender without getting soggy. I always had trouble with carrot cake drying out but the syrup soak really locks in the moisture way better than just relying on the banana. Honestly I think banana bread benefits more since it can get that almost gooey texture on the edges while staying perfect inside.
