My sourdough starter survived a 10 day blackout, barely
Last month our whole block in Akron lost power for 10 days after a storm. I panicked about my starter sitting in the fridge, so I moved it to a cooler with ice packs and swapped them every morning. When the power came back, it had a thin gray layer on top but after I scraped it off and fed it twice a day for 3 days, it bubbled right back to life. Honestly thought I'd be starting over from scratch. Has anyone else nursed a starter through a rough stretch like this, or do you just keep a dry backup?

Whoa, cool that it survived, but did you check if the gray layer was actually hooch or mold, because that changes everything.
