Tried a $15 silicone basting brush after using cloth for years and wow what a difference on my Danish pastries
The cloth brush kept leaving lint on my laminated dough even after washing it three times, but the silicone one glided through that egg wash without a single stray fiber - anyone else deal with lint ruining their bake?

That's a really good question about the spread. In my experience, the silicone brush definitely lays the egg wash on a bit thicker and more even, almost like a thin sheet. The cloth brush seemed to soak up a lot of the egg wash before it even hit the pastry, so I always had to go over the dough twice to get full coverage. With silicone, it's a single, smooth pass and I don't get any of those weird bald spots. Have you tried warming up your egg wash slightly before brushing it onto cold dough to see if you get an even glossier finish?

Did you notice any difference in how the egg wash spread with the silicone versus the cloth?
