Visited that new 'artisan' bakery in Portland and their croissants were a complete letdown. They're charging $6.50 for something that tastes like a grocery store roll.

Ugh, that's the worst. I always check the bottom of the croissant first now. If it's not a dark golden brown and super flaky, it's gonna be doughy and sad. That price for a bad one is a real insult.

That place on Division Street? I went last week and had the exact same problem. The inside of my almond croissant was just a wet, gummy mess, like undercooked dough. @kelly.dylan is totally right about checking the bottom, that's a solid tip. It's just so disappointing when a place with that much hype can't do the basic stuff right. Paying premium prices for a bad bake feels like a personal insult.
