Watching my trash fill with used baking sheets made me rethink things

Years ago, we never gave a second thought to tossing parchment paper after one bake. Now I use silicone mats that wash and last for ages. It took some trial runs to get the timing right on my old oven. But seeing less waste each week feels good, like we're doing our part. Funny how the small stuff in baking can lead to bigger changes.

Throwing out parchment paper after a single bake is mind boggling to me now. We all did it without thinking back in the day. Your switch to silicone mats shows how easy it is to cut down waste.

Yeah, the "without thinking back in the day" part is so true. @the_jason's gingerbread mess is a perfect example of why reusing it never really works. Did you find it hard to switch from the paper feel to the mats at first?

Did you ever try washing and reusing parchment paper? I attempted it with some gingerbread cookies last holiday, but the paper soaked through and ripped when I peeled it off. That messy experiment showed me how much single-use stuff we accept as normal. @hayes.linda, your move to silicone mats makes total sense for cutting out that constant trash.
