Appreciation post: My $35 kitchen scale just saved my cookies
I tried making those fancy brown butter chocolate chip cookies from that blog, but my first batch spread into one giant flat mess. Turns out my 'cup' of flour was way off. I grabbed a cheap Ozeri scale from Target and weighed everything for round two. The difference was crazy, they came out perfect. Anyone else have a simple tool that fixed a big baking fail?

How much did your flour end up weighing compared to what the recipe said? I've seen a cup of flour swing by over an ounce depending on how you scoop it. That scale is probably the best money you'll ever spend in a kitchen. I started weighing liquids like milk and honey too, it saves on washing all those measuring cups.

You're totally right about the scale. My flour was almost two ounces heavier than the recipe listed. It explains why my baked goods were always a bit off.
