Burned 3 batches of cookies in one afternoon last Tuesday

I had a whole day set aside to bake Christmas cookies for the neighbors. First batch I forgot to rotate the pan halfway through. Second batch I got distracted by a phone call and left them in 5 minutes too long. Third batch I somehow set the oven to broil instead of bake. My kitchen smelled like a campfire. Wife came home and asked if I was trying to smoke the house down. Has anyone else had a day where the oven just seemed to have it out for you?

honestly this is just one of those days where the universe decides to test you. i swear there's a pattern with stuff like this where nothing goes right in the kitchen but everything else is fine. like you could have the smoothest day at work or whatever and then the oven just decides to be your personal enemy. it's like the universe knows when you're trying to do something nice and throws a wrench in it just to make sure you don't get too comfortable. i had a similar thing happen last month where i tried to make a simple casserole and ended up with a burned mess and a smoke alarm going off. you just gotta laugh it off and try again another day.

Nah @julia_jones72 I actually don't buy that the universe is testing us with kitchen fails. Ovens are just finicky machines with bad temp controls and hot spots, nothing cosmic about it. People blame fate or patterns but really it's just a cheap appliance acting up or you rushing through a recipe. The smoke alarm thing happens to everyone at least once, that's just part of learning to cook not some grand sign. You gotta look at it as a mechanical problem with a fix, not a personal attack from the universe.

The real issue nobody brings up is timing and multitasking. When you're in a bad mood or stressed, your brain shortcuts the steps like preheating properly or checking the rack position. @julia_jones72 you could have the best oven in the world but if you're rushing because the universe test is actually about your patience, you'll still mess up. I noticed this when i watch cooking shows - the pros treat the oven like a tool they respect, not a thing to fight. Maybe it's not the universe or the appliance, it's that you gotta slow down and respect the process. The smoke alarm is just a reminder to stay present, not a punishment.
