My chocolate cake turned into a puddle at a birthday party
I was at my friend's house in Denver for her kid's party, and I brought a three layer cake I'd baked that morning. The kitchen was super hot, maybe 85 degrees, and the frosting just started melting off the sides like a slow motion disaster. I panicked and stuck the whole thing in the freezer for 20 minutes, which saved it from total collapse but made the texture a bit weird. Next time I'm bringing a cooler bag for transport if it's warm out. Has anyone else had a cake almost melt on them and what did you do?

Oh man, that mental image of the frosting slowly sliding off is both tragic and kind of funny! Your freezer save was a total panic move, but hey, a weird textured cake is better than a chocolate puddle on the counter. I had a pie turn to soup once at a picnic because I left it in the car for ten minutes. Now I treat desserts like they're made of ice in the summer. A cooler bag is definitely the way to go.

Yeah my friend tried to bring a cheesecake to a BBQ last year and it was basically dip by the time we got there. @jesse290 you're so right about the cooler bag, learned that the hard way.
