Pro tip: Resting cookie dough in the fridge for 30 minutes actually fixed my flat cookies

I kept getting sad, flat discs no matter what I did, then someone on here said to chill the dough before baking. First batch after that came out thick and chewy, has anyone else had this work for them?

Read somewhere that chilling the dough lets the butter firm back up so it doesn't melt too fast in the oven. That makes sense since flat cookies usually mean the butter spread out before the structure set. I tried it with chocolate chip cookies and it worked way better, especially if you use melted butter in the recipe.

Used to skip chilling. Not anymore. You're totally right.
