Appreciation post: A barber shop in Nashville had the best old school vibe

I was in Nashville last week for a wedding and walked past a shop called 'The Straight Edge' on Church Street. They had a classic red, white, and blue pole, but what really got me was the inside. Every station had a vintage porcelain sink with those separate hot and cold taps, and the barbers were all using straight razors for the final neck shave. It was a full house on a Tuesday afternoon. It made me think about the atmosphere we create in our own shops. What's one small thing you've seen or added that really sets the mood for clients?

That straight razor finish is a total game changer, makes you feel like a million bucks. I get what @king.aaron is saying about the cut being the main thing, but little details like that turn a chore into something you actually look forward to. What's the best shop vibe you've ever walked into?

Honestly, it's just a haircut. The vibe is nice and all, but people are there to get their hair cut, not join a club. As long as the cut is good and the place is clean, the rest is just extra stuff that doesn't really matter.

You know, I used to feel the exact same way as @king.aaron. But then I got a cut at this place that felt like a doctor's office, super clean and quick, but the barber just did not get what I wanted at all. It made me realize the vibe, or maybe just the person doing the cut really listening, is what gets you that good result. A bad cut in a clean room is still a bad cut, so that extra stuff can actually matter more than you'd think.
