Cheap clipper guards ruined my fade last week

I saw a guy in my shop last week using a set of no-name plastic guards he got for $10 online. The comb was already bent out of shape on the size 2 and he was leaving weird lines all over the guy's head. I've been cutting hair for 7 years in Denver and I've learned the hard way that cheap guards ruin fades. They don't sit flat against the blade and the numbers are always off by a half size or more. I only use Wahl or Andis guards now even though they cost triple the price. My fades are cleaner and I don't have to go back and fix stuff. Has anyone else noticed the cheap ones warping after a few uses?

Honestly, that part about the numbers being off by half a size hit home. I bought a cheap set once and the size 2 was basically a size 1.5, messed up my whole taper on a regular who tips well. I feel your pain on having to go back and fix stuff all the time, it's such a waste of time and product. The warping thing is real too, I had a guard that literally bent in the middle after like three uses and kept snagging hair. Ngl, it made me feel like a bad barber even though I know it was just the equipment.

Oh man, the snagging is the WORST. Makes you look like you don't know what you're doing when really it's just cheap junk.
