Clipper over comb vs. scissors over comb, am I crazy for switching on thin hair?

I've been doing scissors over comb for years on thinning crowns in Austin, but after trying clipper over comb on a 60 year old regular last Tuesday, the blend came out way smoother and he actually said 'this feels cleaner than usual', so which method are you all trusting for sparse spots and why?

Three years on the same chair and I still just grab whatever comb is closest. The guy's 60, hair's thin, he probably couldn't tell the difference if you used a butter knife. But sure, if clipper over comb got you a smoother blend on a Tuesday, run with it. Just don't overthink it, Austin humidity does more damage to that crown than any comb ever will.
