Clipper tension screw stripped after 2 years of use

Was doing a fade on a regular client in Denver last Wednesday and my Wahl Senior's tension screw just gave out mid-cut. Took me 45 minutes to finish with a backup trimmer because the blade kept loosening up. Has anyone else had the tension screws fail on older corded clippers?

Were you cranking down on it too hard when adjusting? I've seen guys overtighten those screws like they're torquing a lug nut and that'll strip anything eventually. Did it fail gradually or just snap all at once mid-fade?

Bet the clipper blade was dull, making you force it harder than needed.
