I always thought a straight razor shave was just a fancy add-on, but a client in Denver changed my mind.
For years, I saw it as a slow, extra service that wasn't worth the setup. Then this older gentleman came in last fall and asked for one, explaining his sensitive skin couldn't handle cartridge razors. After doing it, his skin looked amazing and he booked a standing appointment. Now I offer it as a standard service and have gained five regulars just from word of mouth. What other services have you all added that ended up being a bigger hit than you expected?

Adding a scalp treatment for guys with thinning hair was my game changer. It's not a full cut, just a cleanse and serum application that takes ten minutes. Clients love the cooling feeling and it builds a ton of loyalty for a small time investment.

Honestly, that hot towel add-on sounds nice but I see it differently. Tbh most guys just want a good, fast haircut without a bunch of extras. I tried adding a similar thing with a free neck shave and it just slowed me down. People liked it, but they didn't come back more often for it. Sometimes the simple, core service is what actually keeps them booking.

That Denver client story really hits home, my uncle has the same issue with cartridges. I started offering a hot towel treatment with every haircut last year (just a five minute add-on) and it's become the main reason people book with me now. It's like what @mason_craig34 said about the scalp treatment, a small touch that people really remember.
