I finally got caught by a dull straight razor after years of pushing it

I've been cutting hair for 12 years and always thought I could feel when a blade was past its prime, but last Thursday I nicked a regular customer's neck bad enough he bled through three tissues. It took me a full 20 minutes to stop the bleeding and calm him down, then another hour re-honing my whole rotation of razors. How often do you all actually replace your straight razor blades?

Man that sounds rough, I feel for you having to deal with a bleeding customer like that.

Honestly that "bleeding customer" part got me. I've definitely had a few of those where I'm just standing there wondering if I need a first aid kit or a bailout plan. Tbh at this point I'm pretty sure I could turn my work van into a mobile trauma unit with how many times I've patched myself up mid-job. Ngl though I'd still take a bleeding customer over the ones who want to argue about the price while I'm elbow deep in their pipes.
