Just realized I was overcleaning my clippers with alcohol every day

At a barber meetup in Austin last month, an old guy told me I was drying out the blades and making them dull faster. He said to just brush them out and oil after every client, then deep clean with alcohol only once a week. Has anyone else noticed their blades lasting longer with less cleaning?

Oh man, I gotta respectfully disagree with the old timer on this one lol. I actually tried his method for a few months and my blades started getting gunked up way faster, especially with thicker hair. The alcohol helps dissolve all that buildup and oil residue that traps hair and dust. I still hit mine with a quick alcohol spray after every few clients, just not a full soak, and they've been sharp for over a year now. I think the key is just drying them properly after the alcohol and then oiling right away so they don't sit dry.
