Just realized my clipper guard clicks are the problem, not the blades

After 6 months of fighting inconsistent fades on the same clients, I found that flicking the guard lever to the locked position before every cut keeps the comb from shifting mid pass, anyone else check that before they start or just me?}

Oh yeah, that locked click is a game changer once you notice it. I used to think I was losing my touch until I realized the guard was creeping up like a quarter millimeter on the fade side. Now I actually test the click twice before I even touch the clipper to the head, once when I snap it on and again right before the first pass on tricky spots like the temple area. It's wild how such a tiny bit of play can turn a clean blend into a choppy mess, especially on guys with coarse hair that vibrates the whole unit.
