My backup clippers died mid-cut on a Saturday regular

Last month I had a guy in the chair for a skin fade and my main clipper just seized up, motor smoked and all. I grabbed my backup corded Wahl from the drawer and it was dull as hell, pulling hairs and leaving lines. Ended up finishing him with a trimmer and a straight razor, took almost double the time and he was not happy. I keep spare blades and a second set of cordless now, but does anyone else run backups that never get tested until they actually need them?
