Did you try smacking it on the counter a few times first? That's my go-to fix for everything from clippers to my truck's starter. I had a Senior die on me right when I was about to take a guy's beard down to a one - just a puff of smoke and that sad little whine like a dying cat. Now I keep a backup pair of Andis Masters in my bag, but honestly I'm thinking about just buying a cheap set of battery powered trimmers for emergencies. Nothing like explaining to a paying customer that your tools went belly up and you're about to do the rest with a beard trimmer from CVS.

was trimming a buddy's hair for his wedding and my Andis Master crapped out with the left side still uneven. Had to finish with a straight razor and a prayer. That's when I switched to the Oster 76. Thing's a tank, used it for three years without a hiccup. Still keep a backup pair of Wahl Seniors in the drawer, but the Oster's my daily driver now. Heard the new cordless Seniors have motor issues too, so I'd look at the Oster Classic 76 or maybe the Gamma+ X-Ergo if you want something quieter.
