Spent $150 on a new clipper blade sharpener and it paid off in a week

My old sharpener was leaving my blades dull after a few uses, so I finally bit the bullet on a professional grade model. Did 12 blade sets yesterday alone and they cut through hair like butter. Any other barbers here sharpen their own blades or send them out?

My old sharpener worked fine till my dog chewed the cord clean off last month.

Well actually... maybe the dog did you a favor. Those old corded sharpeners were junk compared to the newer battery ones. The old ones always had issues with the motor burning out after a few months. My neighbor went through three of them before switching to a cordless and he says the blades come out way sharper now. Plus you don't have to fight with the cord getting in the way on the counter.
