That one time an old timer in Brooklyn showed me how he sharpens his clipper blades by hand and said 'electric tools are just lazy convenience'

He pulled out a whetstone and spent 20 minutes explaining the angle of the blade edge while I just stood there watching, and I still think about that conversation every time I hear a clipper start to pull instead of cut, has anyone else had a mentor moment like that that just stuck with you?

Did he show you what happens when you get that angle wrong?

Had a buddy who messed up a similar cut once... ended up with a three-foot gap he had to patch with scrap pieces and spackle. Took him twice as long to fix it as it did to just measure twice and cut once.
