The $3 mixing bowl trick that fixed my hot lather forever

I was watching a barbering tutorial from an old-school shop in Chicago and noticed he kept his lather in a stainless steel mixing bowl sitting in hot water, not the plastic mug I've been using for 6 months. Turns out the metal holds heat way better and I tried it at my station this morning, my clients actually commented on how warm the shave felt. Anyone else switch to a metal bowl or am I late to this obvious party?

Better late than never"? More like better never at all, @theabarnes. I tried the metal bowl thing and my lather went cold in half the time once it left the water, plus it's loud as hell clanking around. Plastic holds the warmth fine for the actual shave, the hot water is doing the work anyway. You guys are just making extra dishes for yourselves.

I mean, I feel this so hard because I was the last guy to give up my plastic mug too. The warmth really does change the whole experience, and it's wild how something so simple can make such a difference for your clients. Glad you figured it out, better late than never right?
