Had a terrible smoke day last Saturday until I figured out my charcoal chimney was clogged

I spent 6 hours babysitting a brisket that wouldn't hit 170, checked everything except the obvious. Turns out the air holes on my chimney were packed with old ash from three cooks ago. Has anyone else dealt with a slow burn and missed the chimney as the problem?

Isn't it funny how the most basic simple parts of our routines are the last things we check when something goes wrong? I've noticed that in fixing things around the house, you always want to assume it's some complicated hidden problem when most of the time it's just something obvious you overlooked. Feels like life has a way of reminding us to go back to square one before tearing everything apart looking for answers.

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head! I had this whole thing with my garage door where I spent an hour watching YouTube videos and checking the alignment and the springs, only to realize the remote batteries were dead. It's like our brains are wired to skip the easy stuff and go straight for the complicated fix. Makes you wonder how many times we overthink things in life when the real answer is just sitting there in plain sight.
