My offset smoker's door hinge gave out mid-cook last Saturday
I was about 6 hours into a brisket for my neighbor's graduation party when the top hinge on my Oklahoma Joe just snapped clean off. Smoke started pouring out of the gap and I had to wedge a fire brick against the door to keep it closed. Has anyone else had a hinge fail like that on a cheaper offset, and what did you rig up to fix it?

Man, I feel your pain. My first offset was an old Chargriller and the door latch gave up halfway through a pork shoulder, had to jam a pair of pliers in there to clamp it shut. Your mileage may vary but those cheap hinges are never built for the weight of a hot smoker door.

Buddy of mine used a heavy duty magnet to hold his shut for a whole summer.
