Paid $150 for a 'competition-grade' rub kit and got basic paprika mix

I ordered this championship winning set from some BBQ guru online, thinking it'd elevate my brisket game. Opened the box and it was literally paprika, salt, and garlic powder I could buy for $10 total. Has anyone else fallen for these overpriced rub packages with fancy labels?

Oh man, I know exactly what you mean with that "competition-grade" stuff. I got suckered into one of those fancy rub sets a couple years back from a guy who won some big contest, and it was basically the same thing you got but with a sticker on it that said "secret recipe." I was so mad I couldve just mixed my own from the spice rack and saved the cash. The thing is, people fall for those labels because they think theres some magic trick to winning, but half the time its just hype and a pretty box.
