Went from hating pellet smokers to actually getting one last weekend

For years I was that guy who swore by stick burners only. My buddy Mike at Pappy's BBQ in Kansas City kept telling me I was missing out but I wouldn't listen. Then I helped him cater a 150-person event two months ago and his pellet smoker put out brisket that was just as good as mine. Last weekend I finally grabbed a Camp Chef from the Rural King in Warren County and now I'm looking at it in my driveway wondering why I waited so long. Anyone else here switch sides like I did?

Traded my offset for a Traeger last spring after fighting with fire management during a rainstorm. Best decision I ever made for lazy weekend cooks.

Oh man, I feel you on that. I swapped my WSM for a pellet smoker a couple years ago after a similar situation with a sudden wind shift nearly ruining a pork shoulder. You lose a tiny bit of that deep smoke ring, but the convenience is a fair trade. I still break out the charcoal for a big brisket cook occasionally, but for a lazy Saturday rack of ribs, the pellet grill is all I need.
