Burnt my garlic bread so bad the smoke alarm went off, but scraping the char off and tossing it in olive oil saved it

I was making garlic bread for spaghetti night last Wednesday and got distracted by a work ticket (stupid printer jam), came back to blackened toast, but instead of throwing it out I scraped the burnt bits with a butter knife and drizzled fresh olive oil over the top, and honestly nobody noticed the difference - anyone else salvage a disaster like that?

Try shredding parmesan on top next time to disguise the taste even more.

Hot take here but @carr.brian might be onto something lol. Parmesan pretty much covers up anything and turns it into a salty cheesy mess which is actually a good thing sometimes. Gotta be careful not to go overboard though or you can't even taste the original dish anymore. Maybe a light sprinkle is the move instead of a full blanket of cheese lol.
