Dropped $200 on a high end chef's knife and honestly my old $30 one worked just as good

So I got talked into buying this fancy Japanese knife online last month. Figured it'd slice through everything like butter. But ngl, after using it for a few weeks, my old cheap knife from the grocery store feels more comfortable and cuts just fine. The expensive one is too delicate I feel like I gotta baby it. Did anyone else waste money on a pricey kitchen tool and regret it? Or am I missing something that makes it worth the cost?

Nah I dropped like $150 on a fancy nonstick pan and now I'm scared to even look at it wrong, lol. Maybe it's just me but I keep grabbing my beat up old one out of habit.

Scared to even look at it wrong" - that's exactly me with my cast iron now. I used to think cheap pans were the way to go, but one good piece changed my mind completely. Worth the anxiety if it actually lasts.
