Rant: my grandma's cast iron pan trick that I ignored for 20 years

My grandma told me to season cast iron with flaxseed oil instead of vegetable oil like 3 years ago. I thought she was just being old school and kept doing my thing. Last month I finally tried it after I ruined a $40 skillet with sticky seasoning. The difference is wild, the pan is actually nonstick now. Has anyone else had a family member drop a hack you brushed off for way too long?

Man that flaxseed oil trick is legit surprised me too. My aunt kept telling me to use grapeseed oil for years and I finally caved last summer, best decision ever for my pans.

My grandma's 50-year-old lard method still beats my flaxseed attempt, @dakota_murphy90.
