TIL I was overcomplicating garlic prep for decades
I used to spend like 10 minutes peeling each clove with my fingers and a knife, getting sticky garlic juice all over my cutting board. Then last month I saw a guy on youtube just smash the whole head with the flat of his knife, and the cloves practically fall out of the skin. Now I prep a whole head in under a minute and my cleanup is just a quick wipe. Has anyone else found a weird trick that cuts down on prep time?

That jar trick sounds wild, does it work with just a few cloves or does it need a full head to really get that shaking effect?

dude that knife smash trick is a game changer for real. i used to spend forever peeling garlic one clove at a time too, getting all sticky and frustrated. now i just give the whole head a good whack and the skin splits right open. also found out if you put the cloves in a jar and shake it hard for 10 seconds, the skin comes off almost completely. kinda like a mini tornado in there.
