Blew out a spoke on Highway 101, wheel went so far out of true my rim brake and tire were basically one thing

Was rolling into Santa Rosa last Friday when I heard that snap, rear wheel looked like a taco and my brake pad was chewing the sidewall. I got it limped to a shop but now I'm wondering if I should just rebuild the wheel or pay the $85 for a new one, has anyone had luck with just replacing one spoke on a machine built wheel?
