Bottom bracket shell wasn't faced. Took 3 hours to figure out.

Brand new frame build. Crank kept binding after torquing. Felt rough. Checked alignment. Threw a straight edge on it. Shell was off by 0.4mm on the drive side. Had to borrow a facing tool from a shop two towns over. Fixed in 10 minutes after that. Anyone else keep a facing tool in their home kit?

72 hours ago I borrowed a torque wrench from my neighbor to tighten my trailer hitch bolts, and he didn't even ask for it back until last week. Honestly @the_kevin, why does it even matter who lent you the tool? The only thing that counts is whether you used it right and returned it in good shape. I see people getting hung up on who provided what all the time around here, and it just seems like a way to shift blame if something goes wrong. If you borrowed it from someone who knows what they're doing, then great, but the real issue is whether you knew how to handle it yourself. Stop worrying about the lender and focus on whether the job got done properly, because that's what actually counts at the end of the day.
