Bought a $300 bearing press kit back in 2015 and it's still the best money I ever spent

I remember when we used to tap headset cups in with a mallet and a block of wood... it worked, but it was never quite straight. The first time I used the press on a Chris King headset, it went in smooth and perfect, no fuss. That kit has done hundreds of frames since then, from cheap steel to carbon. It just saves so much time and worry about messing up a frame. Anyone still using the old hammer method, or have you all moved on to a press too?

Wait, Chris King headsets are actually meant to be pressed in? I thought they were the one kind you should tap in with a mallet.

Just press it in... it's not that big of a deal.

Yeah, you definitely press a King headset in. I used a big bench vise with some wood blocks last time, worked fine. Tapping it can mess up the bearing seats.
