DAE get stuck with creaky bottom brackets until checking the grease?

I mean, I kept hearing this annoying creak from my bike's bottom bracket and thought it was shot. Turns out, I just hadn't used enough grease on the threads when I last put it together. Added some more and tightened it up, and the noise is totally gone now. Maybe it's just me, but that simple fix saved me from buying a new part too soon.

My mechanic friend swears by putting a thin layer of grease on the bracket shell itself, not just the threads. He says it helps with alignment and prevents metal-on-metal contact that causes noise. I tried it on my bike last month, and even after rough trails, it's been silent. Makes sense since vibration can work grease out of threads over time.

Yeah that's a solid tip, I'm gonna try that next time. Sounds like @grace_patel and I have the same bad habit of overthinking it lol.

Honestly, half my problems are just me skipping the simple step and jumping to the worst case.
