Grease gun loyalty test, my old one lost after 6 pumps

I finally swapped out my beat up grease gun for a proper lever style one after fighting with the old pistol grip for months. The difference in a single bottom bracket service was night and day, the old one took 6 pumps to get grease moving, the new one did it in 2. Turns out the plunger seal was worn and letting air in, which I only noticed because I took it apart out of frustration. Has anyone else revived an old gun with just a seal kit, or do you all just replace them too?

Seal kits are way cheaper than a new gun and honestly half the fun is fixing it yourself.

You hit the nail on the head about the seal kits being cheaper, @troy_palmer76. My buddy Mike bought an old Crosman at a garage sale for like twenty bucks and it leaked air like crazy. He grabbed a seal kit online for maybe twelve dollars and spent a Saturday afternoon in his garage with a YouTube video and a six pack. Took him three tries to get the valve seat right because he kept dropping the tiny o-rings on the floor. But when he finally got it sealed up and shot that first pellet across his backyard, he was grinning like a kid. He said it felt way better than buying a new one, like he actually earned that gun. So yeah, fixing it yourself is definitely half the fun, maybe more.
