Heard a racer say 'your chain is a sensor' and it clicked
I was at a group ride last Saturday and someone said a tired chain tells you everything about your drivetrain wear before it's too late. Checked mine with a ruler and it had stretched way past 0.75 after only 800 miles. Anyone else find chain wear sneaks up on you faster than you expect?

My buddy ran a chain so long last season it actually jumped off during a steep climb and he ate dirt right into a blackberry bush... took us 20 minutes to pick thorns out of his arm. Now he buys a new chain every 400 miles whether it needs it or not, just keeps the old ones hanging in the garage like trophies.
