Park Tool cone wrench vs. cheap Amazon set finally got me
I spent years swearing by my cheap $15 cone wrench set for wheel adjustments. Then a guy at the co-op in Denver showed me how much slop that cheap steel had - like 0.3mm of play that made my preload always off. He handed me his Park Tool 4-way and the fit on the locknut was night and day different. Has anyone else had a cheap tool ruin a hub adjustment without realizing it?

Figure your cash just isn't going into the co-op donation jar hard enough.

Oh I don't know about that. Most co-ops I've been in actually have pretty low pressure donation jars, they're usually just sitting there for people who want to chip in extra. I think you might be mixing up the donation jar with something else, like maybe the membership fees or the bag fee they charge if you forget your reusable ones. Those are the real money suckers honestly. And even then, nobody's forcing you to donate, you can just walk right past that jar and nobody says a word.
