Serious question, how long did it take you to chase down a click that only shows up under load?
Had a customer's bike in the stand for 3 days with a click that only showed up when they actually pedaled hard, and I must have pulled the crank, greased the spindle, swapped pedals, and checked the chainring bolts twice before I found a dry rear hub bearing. It took me about 4 hours total across those afternoons (way more than the 20 minutes I quoted them at drop off), and of course it was dead silent in the stand every single time. What's your go-to move for running down a noise you can't hear unless the bike is out on the road?
Chased a squeak in my truck for two weeks once, same deal, only showed up on bumpy roads and shut up completely in the driveway. Seems like half of life's problems work this way: the weird noise your house makes at 2am, the check engine light that clears itself before you reach the shop, the wifi that only drops during a video call. The thing only acts up when it thinks nobody's watching, and the second you pull out the tools it plays innocent. My move now is riding the bike myself, hard, up a hill, because a stand can't fake real load. Sounds dumb but you can't find a ghost that only haunts when you leave the room.
