Snapped a chain tool handle on a stubborn pin last Saturday
I was trying to push out a seized pin on an old Shimano chain and the handle on my Park Tool chain tool just cracked right off. That was a $40 lesson about using penetrating oil first. Anyone else had a tool fail on them mid-job?

Nah, that's just a cheap tool doing what cheap tools do...

Man, is a cracked tool handle really that big of a deal though? It sucks, sure, but chain tools are pretty simple. A seized pin on an old chain is just a bad day, not a sign your tool was junk. Park makes solid stuff, stuff breaks under enough force sometimes. Penetrating oil helps but it's not a magic fix every time. I've snapped a couple cheap wrenches on rusted bolts and just moved on. Not worth getting worked up over a $40 part when the job was probably gonna be a pain either way.
