Warning: I almost used a regular grease on a carbon seatpost clamp
Had a customer's carbon frame in last week, seatpost was stuck. The choice was between my standard Park Tool grease and a specific carbon paste. I went with the paste, which has those tiny grit particles. It took a bit longer to apply, but the post went in smooth and hasn't budged since. Anyone have a different brand of paste they swear by for this?

Man, that feeling when you're holding two tubes and one wrong choice could wreck a frame. Good call on the paste. I've seen what happens when regular grease lets a carbon post slip and then creak forever. Which brand of that gritty paste did you end up using? I've got a little tub of Finish Line stuff that's saved me a few times, but I'm always curious what works for other people.

Oh boy, the eternal tube debate. Yeah, I've got a tub of Park Tool's carbon prep and honestly I think it's just overpriced sand in a tube. But it works so I can't complain too much. The Finish Line stuff is fine too, I've used it. Honestly unless you're racing or doing something real sketchy, regular grease with a little extra torque probably gets you there. But hey, whatever keeps the creaks away and your seatpost from spinning around like a lazy Susan, right?
