My husband and I got into a show so bad we started betting on plot points

We were hate-watching this new detective drama, and after three episodes I said 'bet you five bucks the quiet neighbor did it'. He took the bet, and I was right. Anyone else have a show so ridiculous it became a game?

Honestly I used to think hate-watching was a waste of time. But my friend got me into this awful reality show about people who hunt for ghosts in old warehouses. We started making bets on how many times someone would say "energy" in an episode. It turned this dumb show into a weirdly fun social thing. Now I get it, the bad shows are where you make your own fun.

Totally! My friends and I did that with a terrible cooking competition show. We'd all get on a video call and yell at the screen when the judges made weird choices. We even made bingo cards with stuff like "unnecessary close-up of a spoon" and "contestant cries over pie crust." It made the whole experience hilarious and something we looked forward to every week.

Oh the bingo cards idea is genius. My roommate and I did something like that with this truly awful dating show last year. We had squares for "someone says 'journey'", "a contestant wears cowboy boots for no reason", and "the host winks at the camera". It got to the point where we were more excited to mark off our cards than to see who got a rose.
