Switched my opinion on rewatching old shows after The Wire

Honestly I always thought rewatching a show was a waste of time when there's so much new stuff out there. But last month I gave The Wire another shot and caught about 15 details I totally missed the first time around. Has anyone else had a show hit completely different on a second watch?

Totally feel you on that... caught so many little things in The Wire the second time around that I missed because I was just trying to keep up with the plot the first go. Deadwood hit me the same way, all those conversations about loyalty and power made way more sense when I already knew who was going to screw who over. It's like rewatching a show lets you actually pay attention to the craft instead of just the drama.

Man that's exactly what happened to me with The Wire too. First time I was just trying to figure out who was who and what the hell was going on with all the wiretaps. Second time I picked up on how every single character's choice ripples through the whole damn city, like how McNulty's arrogance messes up everything for everyone. I even noticed little background stuff like how Bodie's always watching everyone on the corner, seeing things nobody else does. Rewatching just makes you appreciate how tight the writing is when you already know the story beats.
