Warning: Our remote work 'show club' is creating a weird dynamic between productivity and bonding

My team started a voluntary binge-watch club where we all tackle the same series and discuss it in our weekly virtual coffee chats. Some coworkers, including me, find it's a genuine lifeline for connection and a mental break from solo work. But others are vocal that it adds pressure to keep up with episodes and blurs the line between work and leisure time. I'm curious, do you think structured show discussions help or hurt remote work culture?

What finally got you hooked? I remember resisting it for ages, but the humor is so sharp it breaks down any skepticism. Totally get why you're converted now!

Sharp humor really does break down skepticism. @davidmartin, I held out until a binge session did me in.

That show breaks down barriers like nothing else. The writing finds humor in everyday absurdity. Solidarity from a former holdout.

Oh man, I was totally skeptical at first too. Forced fun via Zoom? Hard pass. But my club did a rewatch of The Office, and I mean, dissecting Michael's cringe moments with my coworkers actually made me feel way less alone in my apartment. It stopped being another task and just became this dumb thing we all had in common. Now I low-key look forward to those chats more than some actual meetings.
