I finally sold my 400 game collection and kept only 12

Picked the 12 that actually hit the table in the last 2 years, everything else went to a local auction in Columbus for about $3,200 total. Sold my whole kickstarter backlog too, and now game night is less about what I own and more about what we play. Anyone else do a big cull and regret or love it?

...but is a $3,200 purge really about the games or just about feeling in control for a minute? I mean, sure, keeping only the 12 that hit the table sounds clean and practical, but give it six months and you'll probably be eyeing a new kickstarter like it's a fresh start. That's not a dig at you, it's just how this hobby works, the collecting itch doesn't usually die, it just takes a nap. And honestly, the whole "less about what I own" thing sounds good on paper, but I've seen people do this exact move and then spend twice as much rebuilding, just with fancier excuses. So was it really about trimming down, or was it more about scratching a different sort of itch? Not saying you're wrong, just wondering if the relief is real or just the honeymoon phase of a big decision.
