Saw a group playing Twilight Imperium at a coffee shop in Denver for 8 straight hours

Walked past this cafe near downtown yesterday and there they were. Full table of 6 people, maps spread out, snacks everywhere. The barista told me they show up every Saturday at 9am and dont leave until at least 5pm. Ive only played that game once and it took us 6 hours with 4 players. Anyone else have a local spot where people camp out for marathon board game sessions?

Did they have a dedicated spot for the speaker tokens or was it chaos? Tbh, that sounds like a solid Saturday if the coffee's good and the table's big enough. Ngl, I once sat in a friend's garage for 7 hours playing some weird space game with homemade map pieces and it was a blast until someone flipped the table over a bad dice roll.

Oh man, I gotta ask @troy_palmer76 - was that space game called "Twilight Imperium" or something similar? I've heard horror stories about those homemade maps taking over entire tables lol. But seriously, what was the thing that finally set that person off on the bad dice roll? Was it just a bad streak or did they lose something huge? I'm always curious about the breaking point in those marathon gaming sessions because I've seen friendships get real testy over a single critical fail before.
