Serious question, what's the best way to handle a sore loser?

My friend Mark in our regular group used to get super quiet and sulk for an hour if he was losing. I always thought it was just his thing and we should ignore it. But after our last game night, his girlfriend pulled me aside and said, 'He feels like you guys are just waiting for him to lose so you can move on, and it makes him feel worse.' I never saw it that way. Now I try to point out a cool move he made earlier in the game, even if he's behind. Has anyone found a better way to deal with this?

That "bad feeling grows" line is so true, I used to think ignoring it was best.

Man, I used to be the worst sore loser. My own brother threatened to stop playing Monopoly with me. Pointing out a cool move is a solid move, it shows you're still paying attention to his game.

Ignoring it just lets the bad feeling grow without a fix.
